Serevent Diskus is an oral prescription inhalation used as a long-term treatment for asthma and to prevent bronchospasm. It is also given to patients with bronchospasm due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Serevent Diskus Mechanism of Action
This oral inhaler primarily works by stimulating a certain enzyme which allows the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic adenosine monophosphate (AMP). This results in the relaxation of bronchial smooth muscles and inhibition of the release of immediate hypersensitivity mediators.
How to Use Serevent Diskus

Step-by-Step Guide on how to use Serevent Diskus
- Open the foil pouch. Write the date when the pack is opened and the discard date on the label. The discard date is 6 weeks after it has been opened.
- Open the inhaler by holding it with one hand and using the other hand to push the thumb grip open until the mouthpiece is fully visible. You will hear a snap.
- Hold the diskus in a flat position with the mouthpiece facing you. Push the lever away from the mouthpiece fully. The counter in the inhaler will show “1” which means that it is ready to use.
- Exhale through your mouth fully.
- Put the mouthpiece of the diskus in the mouth with lips tightly around it. Inhale deeply and quickly through your mouth.
- Remove the diskus from the mouth. Then, hold your breath for 10 secs or more.
- Exhale fully and close your diskus by pushing the thumb grip back.
