Viread is an oral prescription drug that is given together with other antiretroviral agents to manage HIV-1 infection among pediatric and adult patients. It helps in lowering the chance of HIV complications, such as cancer and other new infections. It is also indicated to manage chronic hepatitis B.

This is available in the form of Viread 300 mg and 245 mg. 

Viread Mechanism of Action 

It works by inhibiting the activities of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and HBV reverse transcriptase. It competes with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine 5’-triphosphate and incorporates into the DNA via the DNA chain termination.
